While it was not the sunny solstice evening hoped for, that did not stop a group of hearty birders from enjoying a stroll around Allemansratt Park’s Anderson Peninsula on June 20th. It was baby bird season and goslings and ducklings were parading on the lake, a family of Baltimore Orioles were spotted, and a pair of Green Herons made several passes overhead. A total of 14 species were observed despite the weather:
- Canada Goose
- Wood Duck
- Great Blue Heron
- Green Heron
- Eastern Kingbird
- Black-capped Chickadee
- Barn Swallow
- House Wren
- European Starling
- American Goldfinch
- Song Sparrow
- Baltimore Oriole
- Red-winged Blackbird
- Yellow Warbler
